Academic Documentation

In order to show completion of scholastic eligibility requirements, you will need to submit the following documents by the document deadline of July 8th:

1. Official Transcripts- This is the record of all your marks/scores that you have received. You will need to send these within their original sealed school envelopes or have your school directly mail them to our Admissions Office.

2. Transcript Translation- If your official transcripts are not already in English, you will also need to send in a certified English translation of your transcripts.

3. National test scores- If your home country requires passage of national or regional examinations in order to graduate from secondary school, you are also required to submit these scores (and an English translation if they are not in English).

English Proficiency

International student applicants are required to demonstrate satisfactory proficiency in English. Applicants who have attended a school full time where English was the primary language of instruction for at least three years immediately preceding admission to CSUMB will have met the proficiency requirement. All other applicants must demonstrate english profiency by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exams.

 International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (www.ielts.org)

CSU Monterey Bay accepts an IELTS minimum overall score of 6 for undergraduates. Graduate applicants need a minimum overall score of 7 . Official IELTS test scores must be sent to the Office of Admissions.

If you are coming from an US School or an US accredited international school…

• Be sure to take the SAT or the ACT if your academic program is aligned with the standard American high school curriculum.
 

Visa Documents

To ensure that your move to CSUMB  is successful, we need the following documents to complete your file and keep you in compliance with your immigration status:

1. Photo copy of your passport (front page with personal photo only).

 

2. Financial Statement: Affidavit of Financial Support

International student applicants are required to give evidence of sufficient financial support. The current annual estimate of costs is $28,054. You will be required to document that you have at least one year's funds or financial backing available to you.

Your Affidavit of Financial Support must be completed and submitted as part of the Application for Admission to California State University, Monterey Bay.  Please click on the link above to print a copy of the Affidavit.

Important Information for Students Already Attending School in the U.S.

If you are currently attending high school, community college, or university in the United States and will graduate or transfer at the end of the current term, we can speed up the application process. Simply submit all required documents (copy of passport, completed Affidavit of Financial Support, and supporting bank statements). In addition, print out the I-20 Transfer Form from the link here (one will also be sent to you in your admissions packet).

Complete the top portion with your personal information as directed and then give it to the International Student Counselor at your school. He/she will fill out the bottom portion and fax it to us so that we can transfer your existing I-20 in the system.
